Established in 1973, Midwest Uncuts, Inc. emerged into the optical arena as an independent wholesale ‘uncut-only’ laboratory in Indianola, IA. As business continued to expand, finishing capabilities were added and the name was changed to Midwest Labs to better reflect our services. Our second full service laboratory opened in 1990 to accommodate our growing Chicago based customers and now proudly serves many customers in the upper Midwest region.
Expanding beyond lens processing alone, in 1988 Midwest Labs patented its own job tray designed to move effectively throughout the laboratory. Our lab tray is still widely used in many labs and dispensaries across the United States as well as internationally.
Over the years, Midwest Labs has continued to invest in state-of-the-art equipment in order to provide the highest quality of ophthalmic lenses. The latest in surfacing, finishing and coating equipment ensures that our valued customers will receive their Rx’s accurate and when expected. Looking forward, a complete digital processing line will be added by the end of 2011 as further commitment to timely delivery of the highest quality.
In 1996, Midwest Labs became one of the first labs in the United States to install an on-site AR coating facility. Our successful family of Reliance Easy Care AR products offer increased durability and scratch resistance. Reliance XP provides one of the highest levels of scratch resistance, effortless cleaning while repelling dust and particles. Released August 1, 2011, Reliance LuxAr is the most premium product we offer and boasts one of the highest degree of cleanability, scratch resistance and anti-static properties available on the market.
Much has changed over the years in the optical industry, but our philosophy has not. We continually invest in our people and the latest technology to deliver quality workmanship to our eye care partners.
